Lenovo has released business-focused mixed reality Headset because it aims to help companies of all sizes discover metaverse possibilities.
The ThinkReality VRX all-in-one headset features the Snapdragon XR platform, pancake optics, four front cameras with 6DoF tracking, and two high-resolution through-cameras.
“Our customers are looking for reliable, flexible and scalable gateways to the growing Metaverse enterprise. They need business-class solutions for the new realities of working in hybrid scenarios and virtual environments, ”said Vishal Shah, general manager of XR and Metaverse, Lenovo.
Pancake optics (folding optics)
With color traversal made possible by “pancake lenses”, the new version of Lenovo combines augmented and virtual reality into a thinner mixed reality device.
Pancake Optics (Folded Optics) allows lenses to stay small while focusing on the user. Thanks to their polarization, these lenses can control which light beams pass, then take each color and reflect it several times, returning the color and then the image to the user in the correct focus with a fraction of the lens distance.
Contrary to the recently released ones Quest Pro by Meta or Pico 4 ByteDance, Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is “a VR solution for employees around the world,” says the company.
Lenovo notes that the device can offer options “from improving the efficiency of employee training and virtual collaboration to extending projects and engineering tasks in 3DXR (extended reality) technologies are becoming more important than ever for companies, enabling hybrid workers to do more work ”.
Lenovo says that thanks to VR, companies are seeing four times faster soft skills training, 275% more confidence in soft skills, and a 43% lower risk of injury.
The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX Headset will be available as Early Access Units in late 2022 and released worldwide in early 2023 – however pricing information will remain undisclosed pending release.
