Motorola is reportedly launching a new budget stylus phone – the Moto G Stylus – within days, with new leaks shedding light on possible color options.
Leaked renders show the G Stylus in blue and pink – or “Glam Pink” as Motorola apparently calls the shade, along with the titular stylus.
The leaks come from a reliable Twitter tipster Snoopy Tech, Based on the renders, it is a typical Motorola phone with a large, mostly undamaged display, slightly bevelled sides, and a recess on the back for the Motorola logo.
Moto G series phones have been one of them in the past best cheap phones can be purchased, and their specifications usually reflect their prices. The Moto G Stylus is expected to be powered modestly MediaTek Helio G88 Chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. 64GB of expandable storage should be enough for all your media, and there’s rumored to be a 6.5-inch 720p display with a 120Hz refresh rate to use up all that media (and use a stylus).
The images show a dual-camera setup, with at least one sensor according to Snoopy Tech – being a 50MP unit. All of this will apparently be maintained by a 5,000mAh battery – which you’d better hope lasts all day as charging is reportedly limited to a measly 10W. Finally, the phone is said to work Android 13which we hope will be the case as Google has already started rolling out Android 14 beta previews.
Hitting a niche
Stylii have always been sought-after productivity tools, even if no one could figure out how to use them to drive the phone brand until Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note to the world. Motorola dipped its toes in the water with the original Moto G Stylus and apparently had enough success to continue pushing the product year after year (with the 2021 Moto G Stylus 5G). Moto G Stylus will not compete with S23 Ultra; Motorola uses its branded premium phones like Edge40 Pro for it. Instead, the G Stylus line provides a cheap, affordable and accessible stylus option for those who want it.
We compared Motorola’s stylus to Samsung’s S Pen when the G Stylus line debuted a few years ago, and there’s no reason to expect our conclusions to change. However, it would be nice to see a premium Motorola Edge or Razr with a stylus option. Maybe next year.
