We still have a few leaks regarding the iPhone 15, and the latest spec rumors that hit the web point to two components that do not change from the iPhone 14 series, which was launched in 2022 year, and the two that are.
These details are via a well-known tipster Revengus on Twitter (via GSMArena) and cover the screen, main camera module, processor and RAM of the iPhone 15 Pro Max – a phone that in some circles is also called the iPhone 15 Ultra.
Leaving aside the naming issue for now, the phone apparently retains Sony’s same 48MP IMX803 camera sensor found on the iPhone 14 Pro Max as the main camera. This contradicts previous reports pointing to the introduction of the Sony IMX903, with the same number of megapixels but a larger sensor (to capture more light).

Apparently, the M12 OLED panel technology also remains the same – although we’ve heard that the screen will be slightly shorter and slightly narrower this time around compared to its immediate predecessor. It looks like the bezels of the display will be thinner than ever.
There will also be some actual updates: a source confirms the widely anticipated jump to the A17 Bionic processor for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the RAM will apparently also be increased from 6GB to 8GB.
We should get the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra) and three other models in September if Apple sticks to its usual schedule. Earlier in the beginning of next month, WWDC 2023 will take place where we will learn all about Apple’s upcoming software updates.
Analysis: conflicting reports
It’s rare for every rumor surrounding a phone to perfectly match all the others, and there have certainly been conflicting reports about the iPhone 15 Pro Max – including what we should actually call it, as we thought Apple would introduce a new one this time Ultra brand.
Recently, the name Pro Max has become more popular in leaks and rumors again, so it looks like that’s what Apple is aiming for. Of course, the company’s plans and designs can change, and there may still be discussions within Apple as to what this phone should actually be called.
As for the rear cameras on the iPhone 15 models, rumors have again diverged. Some leaks point to a revamped camera system and a larger camera bump on the back, while others suggest it will be more of the same for the 2023 models.
Of course, not every leak and rumor will be true, and it’s very possible that confusion over which tidbit is for which version of the iPhone 15 also causes some confusion. Everything should be clear in a few months during the official unveiling.
