Valve announced that it will excite many players who are patiently waiting for their Steam decks. According to the company, all objections will be met by the end of 2022.
Great news: Anyone currently booked can get their Steam Deck by the end of this year! We have resolved supply chain issues, a few people have moved to Q3, and all other bookings are now in Q4. More details here: pic.twitter.com/floa2xZelKJuly 29, 2022
Valve he cites this as easing supply chain problems that were previously choked Steam deck production for months. Now it can speed up the production of this mobile device, and the release date of some players has been pushed back to the third quarter (July-September). All others will receive them by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 (October-December).
If you book it now, you should be able to block the date in Q4 2022. And when Valve is at full capacity, it will queue up for the 2023 delivery window. This news comes a week after Valve announced that Steam Deck would be doubled.
Analysis: But what about accessories?
It’s great to see more Steam Decks now reaching buyers much faster, and bodes well for future production and shipping to be fast and roadblock-free.
However, Valve should be working on putting more accessories into the same hands before third-party vendors do it for them.
Valve’s official statement explains: “Due to parts shortages and COVID closures at our manufacturing facilities, the official Steam Deck is delayed.” And while they found Steam Deck production unavailable, apparently this was not the case due to a supply chain shortage that only recently stopped.
So now that Valve is able to ship Steam Decks early and on time, the company needs to take action this dock before it is pushed out of its home market by external producers who already fill the gap.
At least they left spare parts for iFixit.
