If you’re looking for a gaming laptop that offers the perfect balance between power and portability, we highly recommend checking out the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE for just $999 (was $1,599) (opens in a new tab) at Best Buy.
An absolutely massive $600 price cut takes this premium 14-inch machine into the mid to high end price ranges for gaming laptop deals, offering exceptional value for those with some cash to spend.
Reasons to buy
Premium lightweight design
The biggest advantage of the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE is its incredibly light and slim design, which does not immediately scream “gamer”, unlike some options. The all-metal chassis and understated aesthetics make this a laptop that’s great for blending into non-gaming scenarios. Overall, it feels more like a high-end Apple MacBook than one of the best gaming laptops out there.
Powerful (for size)
Despite weighing just 1.7kg and a relatively small 14-inch chassis, the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE still packs some fantastic specs. This particular model packs a combination of a relatively high-end RTX 3060 graphics card, a decent Intel Core i7-12700H processor, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD. Overall these are great specs and should have no problem maxing out a ton of games on the display’s native 1080p resolution. We haven’t tested this particular model, but our review of the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE (2021) found the previous iteration with the 11th-gen chip to be great.
Reasons to avoid
Quite expensive for an RTX 3060 gaming laptop
Even with an absolutely insane $600 off at Best Buy, this Acer Predator Triton 300 SE is still expensive. We’ve already seen RTX 3060 gaming laptop deals for just $740, so those on a budget may want to consider waiting. On the plus side, these cheaper machines don’t usually come with a full complement of 16GB of RAM, a Core i7 processor, or a build as good as this Triton.
Hard upgrade
The Triton 300 SE’s soldered RAM means you won’t be able to upgrade this particular component in the future – you’ll essentially be locked to 16GB. Not a big deal for us as 16GB is more than enough for gaming and the RAM is the latest DDR5 type (very fast at 4800MHz).
